The University of Ghana (UG) is marking its 75th anniversary with a series of events and activities that highlight its history, achievements, and vision. One of these events is the Wear UG Day, which will take place on October 11, 2023. This is a special day for the university community to showcase its rich and diverse culture, as well as its commitment to excellence and integrity.
What is Wear UG Day?
Wear UG Day is an initiative of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, who announced it during her speech at the thanksgiving service of the UG@75 celebrations. She invited all members of the university community, including students, staff, alumni, and partners, to wear attires made out of the beautiful UG@75 anniversary cloth on October 11, 2023.
The UG@75 anniversary cloth features the colors blue and white, which represent the university’s identity and values. It also has the motto “Integri Procedamus” (Let us proceed with integrity), which reflects the university’s vision and mission. The cloth is available for purchase at various sales points on campus and across the country.
How to participate in Wear UG Day?
To participate in Wear UG Day, you need to do the following:
- Buy the UG@75 anniversary cloth from any of the sales points on their campus or across the country.
- Make your own unique attire out of the cloth. You can be as creative as you want, as long as you respect the university’s culture and standards.
- Wear your attire on October 11, 2023 and join the university community in celebrating UG@75.
- Take pictures in your attire and share them on your social media accounts. Use the hashtag #UGIS75 to show your pride and support for the university.
- Encourage your friends and family to join you in wearing the UG@75 anniversary cloth and celebrating UG@75.
