Safo Newman’s ‘Akokoa’ Song Has Gone Viral For The Right Reasons

Highlife Artist Safo Newman’s ‘Akokoa’ Song Captivates Ghanaian Music Lovers, Tackles The Issue Of Hypocrisy And Double Standards Among Religious People In His Country.

A new song by Safo Newman, a budding Ghanaian singer and songwriter, has taken the country by storm with its relevant and poignant lyrics.

The song, titled “Akokoa,” is a plea for kindness and compassion towards others, regardless of their relation or status. It also exposes the irony and injustice of some people who use religion as a pretext for their immoral actions, while condemning others for their perceived sins.

The song has resonated with many listeners, especially on social media platforms like X (Formerly Twitter) and TikTok, where it has amassed thousands of views, comments, and reactions. Many users have commended the singer for his vocal prowess, songwriting skills, and relatable message.

Some of the notable figures who have endorsed the song include Sarkodie, one of the most popular and influential rappers in Ghana, who called Safo Newman a “real talent” and shared a video of himself jamming to another one of the artist's songs on TikTok.

Similarly, Jessica Opare-Saforo, a digital entrepreneur and a veteran radio and TV presenter, expressed her admiration for the song on X, saying “Safo Newman! 💯 I’m jamming to your song! 😍”.

The song’s popularity has also reflected on music streaming platforms, where it has climbed the charts and reached new audiences. As of the time of writing this article, the song ‘Akokoa’ ranked #98 on Apple Music’s Top 100: Ghana playlist and #41 on Boomplay’s Trending playlist.

However, not everyone is impressed by the song. Albert Nat Hyde, a social media critic who goes by the Twitter handle @BongoIdeas, posted a negative review of the song, saying that Safo Newman’s hype does not match his songs. He wrote: "Safo Newman’s hype does not match his songs imo. Normal thick Twi plus sorrowful theme; Sarkodie is just supporting to look good online. This guy’s “Paa Bobo” style ain’t appealing & won’t sell in 2024. Sorry, Not impressed! Not moved!!."

Safo Newman, who is a fresh face in the music scene, has not yet responded to the criticism. He has, however, expressed his gratitude to his fans and supporters for the positive feedback and encouragement.
