A Poet from Ghana with a Dynamic Style
Kwabena Churchill (MOMC) is the pen name of Alex Yeboah, a poet, a spoken word artist, and a student of psychology at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. He is one of the emerging voices in the African literary scene, with a diverse and deep poetic style.He likes to explore different forms, genres, and languages in his poetry, drawing inspiration from nature, culture, religion, history, current affairs, other poets and authors, and his own life experiences.

The Smilex Album: A Collection of Dynamic Poetry
One of his recent works is “The Smilex Album,” which he released on July 20, 2023. It is an anthology of five spoken word poems with different themes, styles, and perspectives. The poems are based on these themes: “Revival Ourselves - Changing Our Boost to Life,” “Praise-worship poetry,” “Human Relationships,” “Love in different Specs,” and “Life.”This anthology follows his previous work, Holofa, a Poetry Series that he published from January to March 2023.
It’s Enough: A Spoken Word Poem About Self-Empowerment and Confidence
One of the poems in “The Smilex Album” is called “It’s Enough,” which he also performed and uploaded to his YouTube channel.In this poem, he addresses an individual who suffers from low self-esteem and fears failure. He encourages them to ignore the negative thoughts that hold them back and embrace their own value and potential.
He uses various literary devices to create a lively and expressive tone, such as repetition, rhyme, alliteration, and wordplay.
He also uses vivid metaphors and imagery to make his points more clear and impactful, such as likening fear to a clown, dreams to a big ball, and perseverance to a playlist. The poem ends with a series of questions that urge the individual to take action and chase their dreams.
The poem aims to inspire and motivate the individual to overcome their challenges and discover their true self.
Other Spoken Word Poems
