Cameroonian-American singer-songwriter Libianca Kenzonkinboum Fonji, known professionally as Libianca, has released her latest single “God’s People.” This song supports fundraising for victims of the Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon, a conflict that has caused turmoil, resulting in loss of life, displacement, and disruption of education and aspirations.

Produced by Libianca and M3tro, the song ‘God’s People’ features a collaborative effort in songwriting by Dickson Owusu, Isaac Sogbey, Loren Eklund, Obiora Obikwelu, Ryan Kemp, Stephan Ameyaw, and Libianca herself. Its release on April 24, 2024, marks a significant step in using music as a platform for social change.

Libianca took to YouTube to announce the release of her song ‘GOD’S PEOPLE,’ emphasizing her goal to support those affected by the crisis in Cameroon. In her statement, she expressed a deep sense of responsibility, saying, “I've released GOD’S PEOPLE everywhere to raise funds from my stream profits to help victims of the #anglophonecrisis in Cameroon.”

She further detailed the crisis’s impact, emphasizing the severe losses, including broken families, derailed aspirations, and halted education. "You would be joining me to support some people in my country who’ve lost their families, their hopes in making their dreams come true, and their education. If I’m influential, I might as well influence others to show love to each other," Libianca shared.

The music video for ‘God’s People,’ released a day after the song on April 25, 2023, further amplifies the message of unity, support, and resilience through its imagery and mood.

Libianca’s choice to direct her influence toward philanthropic activities highlights the significant impact of art on social issues. Her music serves as a catalyst for positive transformation and empathy. Utilizing her platform to raise awareness and funds, she demonstrates the influential part artists can undertake in aiding communities that require assistance.

The release of “God’s People” demonstrates art’s capacity to drive social change. The song’s harmonious tunes and profound words engage listeners and integrate them into a broader crusade of unity and backing for individuals grappling with adversities in Cameroon.

With her talent and philanthropic spirit, Libianca continues to impact, affirming that music can be an agent for social change and advocacy.
