Black Sherif Debuts “Zero” Featuring Mabel Music Video, Lyrics

Ghanaian musician and award-winner, Black Sherif, also known by his stage name Blacko, has released a new single titled “Zero” in collaboration with Mabel, a singer and songwriter of Spanish and English descent. The song, which was written by Mohammed Ismail Sharrif and produced by Joker Nharnah, came out on February 8, 2024.

The song showcases a soft melody juxtaposed with powerful hip-hop rhythms, as Blacko and Mabel express their personal development and serenity. Sherif raps about dealing with fame and challenges while preserving his inner calm.

Mabel sings, “Found me a piano in the hotel lobby/Singing to myself, I don’t – nobody/I know how to fill up my cup.” The singer uses a stylistic technique of omitting expected words and syllables from the line and adding vocal layers. “Zero” is the follow-up to Black Sherif’s first single of the year, “January 9th.”

On February 6, the musician Black Sherif posted a preview of his upcoming music video on the social media platform X. The video, which co-starred Mabel, was accompanied by a caption that described the song as an “Art we created at our most vulnerable state.”

The song’s music video, which was released on YouTube on February 9, 2024, had Troy Roscoe as its director.
