President Mahama Makes Key National Security Appointments

H.E John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana

President Mahama has unveiled a comprehensive restructuring of Ghana's national security leadership, appointing four seasoned professionals to key positions in a move announced today, Wednesday (Jan 15) from the Presidency.

Prosper Douglas Bani, whose credentials include former Chief of Staff and Interior Minister roles, assumes the position of National Security Advisor to the President. This appointment places a veteran public administrator at the helm of national security strategy.

The restructuring establishes a clear chain of command, with DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak appointed as National Security Coordinator. In this pivotal role, Razak will synchronize security initiatives across various agencies, strengthening institutional cooperation.

Operational oversight receives reinforcement through COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.), who takes the position of Director of Operations at the Presidency. Complementing these appointments, Charles Kipo steps into the role of Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau, consolidating the administration's intelligence capabilities.

"These appointments reflect President Mahama's commitment to enhancing national security and ensuring the safety of citizens," according to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Presidential Spokesperson.
