Passenger Releases "Let Her Go" Feat. Ed Sheeran - Anniversary Edition

Passenger and Ed Sheeran

Renowned English singer-songwriter Passenger has undertaken a remarkable transformation of his breakthrough hit, "Let Her Go," by collaborating with the acclaimed Ed Sheeran. This reimagined rendition was unveiled on Friday, November 10, as part of a special commemorative edition marking the 10th anniversary of Passenger's successful 2013 album, "All the Little Lights."

In an ambitious endeavor, Passenger re-recorded the entire album, enlisting the talents of esteemed artists such as Ed Sheeran, Foy Vance, Gabrielle Aplin, and Nina Nesbitt to lend their unique perspectives to the song.

In this collaborative effort with Sheeran, Passenger explores new dimensions within "Let Her Go." The composition is enriched with enhanced string arrangements, fortified by the inclusion of piano, and adorned with a touch of glockenspiel. The collaboration extends to vocal duties, as Passenger and Sheeran seamlessly share the spotlight, transforming the song into an authentic duet characterized by irresistible harmonies, as showcased in a studio performance video released alongside the track.

Mike Rosenberg, known as Passenger, elucidated the rationale behind selecting Ed Sheeran for the re-recording, citing the pivotal role the pop star played in elevating his career. Rosenberg expressed profound gratitude, acknowledging Sheeran's instrumental contribution to his global exposure. He commended Sheeran as an exceptionally kind and thoughtful individual who, despite his colossal success, continues to uplift those around him, serving as a constant source of inspiration and a steadfast friend.

Addressing potential perceptions of the collaboration as a commercial opportunity, Rosenberg affirmed that while the collaboration undoubtedly brings commercial advantages, there exists an authentic and undeniable connection between Sheeran and Passenger. This connection, evident in the collaboration and shared experiences over the years, extends beyond mere commercial considerations.

While "Let Her Go" technically debuted in 2012, it achieved widespread recognition in 2013 alongside the success of "All the Little Lights." The song's massive success reverberated across Europe, the U.K., and the United States, soaring to Number Five on the Billboard Hot 100. Rosenberg reflected on the serendipity of the song's success, emphasizing its role as a pivotal representation of his artistic identity during that period.

Passenger's musical journey has persevered over the past decade, marked by consistent recording and releases. In 2022, he unveiled his latest album of original compositions, titled "Birds That Flew and Ships That Sailed."

In addition to the 10th-anniversary edition of "All the Little Lights," Passenger treated fans to a live album, "Passenger (Live From San Francisco)," showcasing the enduring vibrancy of his artistic prowess.
