OJ Blaq: From Hiplife Star to Gospel Singer Following His Healing

OJ Blaq, formerly known for Hiplife, embraced gospel music following his recovery from kidney failure. His latest release, 'I Am Blessed,' features Kingzkid, the first African gospel artist to win the 2019 Gospel Academy Awards Best International Act.

The song 'I Am Blessed' is an upbeat celebration of divine love and blessings. Laxiobeats produced the track.

Directed by KP Selorm, the 'I Am Blessed' music video showcases compelling visuals. Since its YouTube debut on November 08, 2021, it has attracted significant viewership and acclaim. The video, along with the song, is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms.

OJ Blaq, also known as Andy Alexander Nii Akrashie, gained popularity with the 2009 hit ‘Chale Wote,’ featuring Captain Planet and Asem. Signed to Lynx Entertainment, a prominent Ghanaian record label, he expanded his career into acting with roles in ‘Sun City’ alongside Van Vicker, Ekow Smith-Asante, and Suzzy Williams.

Facing a health crisis, OJ Blaq underwent dialysis for kidney failure. Despite receiving no kidney donations from family, friends, or peers, he credits a miraculous recovery to his faith. Now in good health, he maintains his strength with regular gym visits.

“No family member, musician, or any of my friends donated a kidney to me, hence God gave me a fresh kidney. I am now strong, I now go to the gym...” OJ Blaq said in an interview with Happy FM.

OJ Blaq has revamped his lifestyle and genre, now dedicating his music to the divine. His debut gospel track ‘His Presence’ was released in 2022 under the Oracle of Jesus label.

OJ Blaq’s journey illustrates the profound changes faith can inspire. His story offers hope to those facing adversity. ‘I Am Blessed’ reflects his thankfulness and belief.
